Episode 15 November 2nd 2017 “Post Halloween Letdown”   A solo monologue by Steve, with a little help from Palu, who smoked some weed..   Greetings and salutations everyone! Steve here with you on November 2nd, 2017 and this is Episode 15, of Baked and Awake. I hope everyone had an extra spooky, extra lengthy Halloween this year, I know we certainly did what with the day itself falling on a Tuesday this year, it was basically Halloween from Friday onwards around here. Kenny was a Ninja this year, and Royce, at nearing 2 years old and a perfect semi long haired natural redhead- went as Chucky from Child’s Play. Yeah, you could say that it was pretty epic. Anyway- I’d like to open this mini sode by saying my most heartfelt thank-you to everyone who listened to the show in the past 30 days. As some of you who are paying closer attention might know, We broke all expected or hoped for downloads goals last month, and we couldn’t be happier about it.  Please help us continue to grow our audience by seeking us out on your favorite social media platforms, and tossing us that like, pressing share or reposting our posts, and of course by leaving your (hopefully 5 star!) review in the almighty marketplace that is the iTunes store.   Looking ahead to November, I’m excited to let you all know that I was recently interviewed as a guest for Sam Sedlack’s excellent podcast, Supernormal. The subject matter for that conversation was being raised adopted, and mixed race, and how that has been for me in my life. It’s part of a series of episodes Sam is putting out right now dealing with race, identity, and life in America today from different perspectives. If this wasn’t cool enough, we can also look forward to having Sam on herself as our very first guest of the Baked and Awake show. Sam and I will spend some time talking podcast creator challenges and the highs and lows that come along with making content of this kind, and we may also touch on some other subjects a little closer to our “Baked” wheelhouse as well. Finally, I am pleased to mention that I just recorded and shared my first ever Promo spot for our show, to be played during an upcoming episode of one of my new very favorite Podcasts, The Eastern Border, Hosted by Kristaps Andrejsons. The Eastern Border is a fantastically done show that covers the history of the USSR from the standpoint of a Latvian Professor of Russian history. Kristaps knows his topic, and tells stories in a relatable and entertaining way that will have you coming back for episode after episode. Please, everyone- go check out Supernormal and The Eastern Border, like them both on FB, and make sure you let them know that Baked and Awake sent you.   And now, on to the show, with Palu up first with review of Solstice Farms Shurman #7.  Take it away, buddy!     Palu: Solstice Farms Shurman #7   And we’re back, I hope everyone enjoyed Palu’s review of Solstice Farms’s Sherman #7. It sounds like an excellent and balanced concentrate with a high CBD percentage that still delivers the enjoyment of THC and the benefits of its interplay with the other cannabinoids and terpenes as well.   And now on to a short discussion of everyone’s favorite Netflix franchise, Stranger Things. Note: we won’t be giving out a bunch of spoilers here, even though most of America has already binged the eight hours of Season 2 in one sitting by now. Just in case you haven’t watched it yet, I certainly don’t want to be the one responsible for having ruined it for you. Instead of delving into plot points, details, or revealing omissions, we will be addressing themes, and some conspiratorial topics that seem to be commonly encountered in Science Fiction and Fantasy television and movie features. In the main, Im talking about a concept known to the Tinfoil Hat Society as “Predictive Programming”, where the powers that be encode hidden and sometimes not so hidden messages into popular entertainment (Movies, TV, radio and print media, and perhaps most importantly- video games) about some planned societal change in a bid to inoculate the public against their future shock or dismay in response to the actual event. Predictive programming, it is said-  lessens the public’s resistance to what are perceived to be largely negative compulsory social developments, and distort the understanding of the genesis of the change, placing it in the realm of “this is just how things work” or “We chose this”.  “Disclosure”, on the other hand, is understood again by critical thinkers, to be a tacit admission of some crime or sin already committed. This is the classic rubbing it in your face moment that the victim loathes and the bully live for.  Now, before you say to me “I’ve never heard of this madness before, Steve! You must be off your rocker, I say to you- when was the last time a major Celebrity passed away, or a terrible disaster occurred, when somebody didn’t produce, as if by magic, an episode of say, The Simpsons that appears to closely match the circumstances of the incident in question. All I do by bringing this example up is to remind us all that we regularly play around with and even make light of a phenomenon that at best can be described as eerily coincidental, and at worst may be characterized as utterly diabolical.      On to the question of who is encoding these messages. Some say the Illuminati, others, the Freemasons. Still others will tell you the biggest player in this game is the USINT community, or the US Intelligence state for those of us less acronymically inclined. The United States Central Intelligence Agency, in particular, has been not only accused of, but outright caught red handed- manipulating journalists, actors, and news outlets in virtually every way you can imagine. Don’t believe me- look up Operation Mockingbird. Go ahead, we’ll wait. Now, in addition to the Usual Suspects, you can add groups like The UN, The Vatican, and Foreign Intelligence Organizations from around the world, any and all of whom have propagandistic messages that they continually seek to proliferate around the world. When we look next at the size of just Hollywood’s Entertainment industry, which by the way more or less includes the large part of the Gaming Industry- we are looking at close to One Hundred Billion with a B dollars per year. This takes no account of the money spent on production of foreign films or television shows- one can easily begin to understand that whatever message you wish to spread to the world, if you have access to the Hollywood film industry- you’re gonna get that message out there.   Alright, I’m starting to sound like I think I know something about what I’m talking about here, and that is a dangerous thing. While I do watch TV and movies these days with a highly critical eye, it takes a person with some serious background in Symbolism, Religious Themes, and America’s dark history to really hook in on the weirdest and scariest of this stuff. Believe me when I say that most of us are missing most of IT, whatever that is, that’s being communicated on our magic glowing rectangles, and that is BY DESIGN. The hidden messages are supposed to be just that- hidden. At least, to your conscious mind. At any rate, In support of my outlandish claims, I wish to bring in the assistance of a veritable heavyweight of movie and television analysis, Jay Dyer. Jay runs one of, if not the best websites and YouTube channels on the topic of encrypted messages in popular media that exists, in the world. Jay’s Channel on YouTube is called Esoteric Hollywood, and I warn you- if you get started over there, prepare to lose yourself down a rabbit hole from which there may well be no return. Jay has been breaking down the mysteries of the movies for years, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of both US history, and the history of the film. Here, I will read a few excerpts from his first rate piece on the Stranger Things franchise, published on evolveandascend.com in August of 2016.   Resources:   Esoteric Hollywood’s Jay Dyer Breaks down Stranger Things 2: http://www.evolveandascend.com/2016/08/02/hidden-programming-within-stranger-things/   Jsy’s Analysis Website   The New Rockstars- an excellent YouTube breakdown of Stranger Things Pop culture references- comprehensive and fast paced 30 min watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N1rirHF6qk   On the Conditioning of Humans: https://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/sociopol_mediacontrol66.htm   MUSIC:   Opening Segment instrumentals graciously provided gratis, by Anti Luode, Anti’s Music. Despite the persistence of these stories, Seattle seems to have all but forgotten this dark portion of its children’s history. Sterile though the historical timeline below this essay may be, this School has a story that is still trying to be told, with locals bearing witness to having heard strange noises, the sounds of running footsteps, and even screams on the grounds, today a city park. These spirits, if that’s what they are, as further said to inhabit the trees, some of which are clearly almost a century old, and rumored to have been planted by patients/inmates of the “School”.  Bullies and would be Muggers etc seem to fall victim to the ghosts, while troubled teens, particularly teenage girls are said to derive a dark sense of comfort from them. While I’ve so far been unable to find a record of the school’s darker side that names names or gives specifics of who dies when and how- I think that is perhaps a little less important, and no more scary to hear about, than to simply recall what routinely went on in State run institutions of this sort throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. While the normal world turned slowly around them, patients of Asylums, Conservatoriums, Hospitals, University Hospitals, and more were regularly experimented upon. Sometimes with therapeutic aims, other times, the motivations were much less clear. We have three podcasts with names that don't start with "Baked" showing up ahead of us in search results right now, and I suspect that it has something to do with a shortage of reviews for our show. BAKED and AWAKEEpisode 10- WiP Host: Steve Cominski Co-Host: G.W. Masters talktous@bakedandawake.com   13 October 2017 Welcome once again to Baked and Awake. This is Steve, with a few comments before we jump into this week’s debacle I mean- meticulously crafted episode! We are fortunate right now to have an episode at all, as we embarrassingly found ourselves having recorded with the mic settings once again way off- this time too loud/too much gain. It was bad. We almost had to toss the whole episode out- except for the fact that for the first time ever, we taped in parallel with a portable recorder- a freshly acquired, gently used Tascam DR-05.  Well, I still have a lot of work to do on a number of technical fronts, and I did manage to badly bodge the process of pulling files off the recorder and getting them into appropriate sized chunks to be further moved around in lossless .wav format- nevermind. || It’s boring, it's technical, and it all comes down, if you MUST know, to more of a PEBKAC issue than anything else. Suffice to say however, that I managed to pull some (decent) audio off the Tascam, although the “quality” of the discourse is a bit… shall we say coarse? Look- it was supposed to be a downtemposode, and it was. Without the music. And no real agenda. (But don’t worry- we had weed)! So, you may begin to get an idea of where this went. Anyhoo- I ended up cutting a lot of it due to still not being in love with the audio’s physical qualities, but also due to a general lack of real information being surfaced for the audience. George and I talked a lot both before and after turning on the recorders that evening- and I wish we had more of it because we “lost” (in the can but sounds atrocious) some great stuff with George talking about his photography and working in public. It’s ok though, because we still have George, and I know we are going to revisit the topic of his art probably more than once or twice in the future on the show.     In an effort to address the above grievous offenses,  I’m going to attempt to front load us with just a few coherent words before the debauch commences because frankly, it makes me feel better! As always, what follows is an adult show with some light Cannabis use , and this time- more than a bit of potty mouth Steve. Sorry about that, Mom- if you’re listening!   NOTE: Before we jump into Hemp History, I want to take one moment to thank Alex Barbarian from Soundcloud for the chill background soundtrack. Please check Alex out using the provided link in the show notes, and let him know you found him through our community! Alex- you’re the man! First up, Some Hemp History Timeline, starting in the 1940’s Document Link     Next: Old Business- mentioned last week was WA State House Bill 1092- On the growing of plants in our humble abodes..   HB 1092 seeks to reform WA Cannabis law to allow for home growing of cannabis plants for any adults over 21 years of age Bill is currently in the House, in committee Bill needs to make it on House of Reps calendar, and Pass the Chamber before moving on to the same process (Introduce, Committee, Calendar, Vote) on the Senate floor Once passed in the House and Senate, HB 1092 must still be ratified by the Governor before passing into law   Details and limitations as described in the Bill Digest, below We have subscribed to the email updates for this bill, and listeners here in WA can do the same by following the link to the bill here in the show notes.   HB 1092 - DIGEST Allows the possession of no more than six marijuana plants and up to twenty-four ounces of useable marijuana harvested from lawfully grown plants if the person in possession is at least twenty-one years old. Allows the possession of no more than twelve marijuana plants and forty-eight ounces of useable marijuana, in the aggregate, by the adult residents of a single housing unit, regardless of the number of persons who are at least twenty one years old residing in the housing unit   Advocacy for Incarcerated Non Violent Drug Offenders While we sit here racking up dabs and looking forward to hopefully passing legal home grow here “on the outside”, more Americans sit rotting in prison than ever before, and while things have actually begun to show signs of stabilizing, there’s no clear path to reversing the trend.  I know it’s easy not to think about those people, or to rationalize their circumstances in some way, but I hope that if you’re listening to this show we share a common belief that things like “Three strikes, you’re out”, and “Stop and Frisk’, or how about “Civil Asset Forfeiture” - are a net negative for us as a Nation, as a Culture, and as Civilized Humans. To that end, in recent discussions we have been trying to identify worthy organizations fighting the good fight on this front, that we may support them. I’ve heard of them before, but right now The Sentencing Project, at www.thesentencingproject.org- is looking like the real MVP’s for us on this issue. According to their website, we understand the following The USA leads The World in incarceration of its citizens The US incarceration rate has grown by over 500% in the past 40 years Over 2 million Americans are in prison As many as 1 in 3 Adult Black Americans have a felony conviction. (Let that one sink in for a minute as you think about voter turnout numbers in things like general elections..) TSP is working to end mandatory minimum sentencing and excessively lengthy sentences Shifting of resources FROM incarceration to community based prevention and treatment for substance abuse Examining and reforming policies and practices that contribute to racial iniquity throughout every area of the US Justice system As I said, they look like they are doing a lot of the heavy lifting here on a matter that I personally believe to be of great importance. I’m going to look into ways of supporting The Sentencing Project both personally and through vehicles like this podcast. We’ll also seek to support and publicize other worthy organizations that are fighting the good fight on this or other issues, like widespread legalization of the growing of Industrial Hemp for CBD and/or fuel production.   Smoke Session: Dipped 1G Purple Champagne Preroll- Flower, Keif, and distillate joint.   BAKED AND AWAKE SHOWEpisode 09- A Hanford/Maury Island Connection Host: Steve Cominski Co Host: George W. Masters   07 October 2017 Welcome back to EP09 of The Baked and Awake Show. I’m Steve, and I’ll be your host for this latest edition of the show, that at the time of publication, is the first of our shows available in the iTunes and GooglePlay stores!!  We are ALSO available to stream and download in the Tunein, Stitcher (Applause!). Today on the show we are going to talk (more than we already have) about everybody’s favorite “new” way to smoke weed- Dabbing, and it’s not so new, and somewhat mysterious origins. We’ll also drop back into the ever informative Hemp History timeline, starting at 1900, and see what the 20th Century has to offer our Photogenic Protagonist, Cannabis, and its hard working and continuously underrated Sister, The Hemp Plant. Finally, it’s a return to Maury - Vashon Island, with some lesser known history of the Island, as well as a possible connection between a famous UFO incident of 1947 that bears the Island’s name, and another mysterious as well as  eternally super deadly dangerous-  Hanford Nuclear Power Plant.     Strain of The Week CBD Strains!! Blue Roots Cannabis Durban Poison CBD Terpene Honey, Purchased at Clutch Cannabis, Renton WA Dabbing, and it’s Conspiratorial Origins will be covered in the HH timeline, below.   Hemp History Timeline 1900- 1942 The Dawn of Cannabis and Hemp as we know it 1910- Mexican Revolution  introduces recreational consumption to America 1914- The Harrison Act is passed- bad things to come 1919- Alcohol Prohibition begins (!!) 1924- Russian Botanists classify Cannabis Ruderalis -an interesting genotype that we will visit in more detail in a future episode or episodes 1933- Prohibition ends, actually ramping up pressure on MJ as the next target of the ever growing US law enforcement apparatus’ which now includes a very active Department of Justice, the FBI, the aforementioned OSS, and more. 1942- Henry Ford develops a car that runs on Hemp Ethanol. In a separate project Ford builds an experimental Hemp Car body 10x stronger than steel and significantly lighter- (In a way foreshadowing fiberglass, plastics, and carbon fiber tech during the WWII era?) The United States OSS, precursor Organization to the NSA/CIA, develops a highly potent MJ concentrate, made using Ethanol Alcohol as the solvent- dubbed “Truth Serum”. Codenamed “TD” for Truth Drug, it was administered to unknowing subjects as part of interviews and interrogations in the US and Canada throughout the run of the controversial and super conspiratorial CIA “MK Ultra” program.   UFO’s over Hanford and a possible Maury Island Connection Recap of Maury Island Incident (Short) History of Hanford (Short- Maybe PK) UFO’s over Hanford in 1945 NICAP Official Report UFO’s over Hanford Project 1947 Twin Peaks Connection Check recent IG posts, saved (email to this account) about Hanford and weird unidentified particles falling from the sky, flying objects observed -sc   AWAKE OPEN CASE No 001   The Hanford Site Hanford, to be honest- is almost too big of a topic to tackle at our tender stage of development here at Baked and Awake. The only reason that I feel alright taking this up at all, is because of all the many topics we hope to cover here over the next few years, Hanford is one that, more than many others, tends to be rarely discussed, even by avid counter culture loving types and the “Conspiracy Crowd”. Hanford is a massive 586 square mile parcel of land in Washington State that housed the most important nuclear weapons production facility in the United States. It produced almost 80% of the radioactive material used in the United States. It houses 56M gal of liquid waste and 25m cubic feet of solid waste. It is the largest superfund cleanup project in the UNited States.   After the roof collapsed in a tunnel on the site in May 2017, Hanford released a statement that "no evidence of radiological release" was detected. It should be noted of course that Hanford officials ignored warnings given by experts in 1980 in regards to the condition of the structure and the dangers of its contents.   ALSO IN MAY 2017 - radioactive contamination was unexpectedly detected during checks on an underground storage tank. In another incident that same month, workers’ clothes were found to have been contaminated with plutonium, though the source of the contamination was not determined.   August 2017 - an airborne release during demolition of a building on the Hanford site was detected. The air tests were not expected to contain traces of plutonium. The airborne particles were assumed the result of the demolition but there has not been a conclusive determination of causality.   In 2016, more than 50 workers were exposed to toxic gases, resulting in illness. More than a 1.3 BILLION dollars has been paid to workers who have been harmed at Hanford.   These "unexpected" discoveries of contamination are almost certainly symptoms of a larger problem. Laziness and greed. The cost and effort necessary to address the issues is just too much for them to handle, so they lie and avoid and hide the evidence. From what I read while researching this issue, I would say the danger is clear and present. Now there are some real problems with this, other than the shortcomings of the officials in power. For instance, the cleanup is fabulously expensive. Estimates of the cleanup cost are in excess of $100 Billion. The current budget is $2.3 Billion, nowhere near enough to address matters in a sufficiently timely fashion. And Trump is cutting the existing budget by $120M.   -The cleanup deadline is 2060, but experts believe many dangerous structures on the site will not survive that long.   The underlying issue is human error and laziness. Hanford officials repeatedly dodge questions about the site and its management.   Consider the number of earthquakes along the Pacific Rim in recent days and the dangers posed by the poorly maintained and aging Hanford facilities is amplified significantly. A major quake could release enough radioactive and otherwise toxic material into the air and water to cause widespread damage over an enormous portion of the Northwest.

Join my pal George Masters and I as we talk cannabis, and the future of the show. Detailed show notes including links to all companies mentioned AND editorial notes worth checking, also attached to this show as a PDF, or viewable here Episode 07 Sept 28, 2017 Host: Steve Cominski Guest: George W. Masters Hey Everybody, Steve here with a few introductory comments to today’s show. It’s been a busy few days around here since our last time together. Things continue to progress down at the garden at work, with the plants in the rooms getting bigger, most now requiring cargo netting to hold up the increasingly heavy branches.  The first harvest days for the new Smooth Sailing Cannabis team are starting to look like they are coming closer at long last.  Aside from my “Day Job”, and its attendant needs, I’ve been noodling on the show, of course.  Researching topics for the upcoming Episode 07, I have also been populating a schedule of show topics to cover, trying to get ahead of the cycle a little bit by looking ahead and putting down some outlines for future episodes.  All this, while updating the website, designing logos, and other art assets that will become our brand identity, and more.   The Episode you are about to listen to is more of an experiment than a formal program. Guest, friend, and probable future contributor George Masters joins me in the recording space to assist in testing microphones etc.  George is an ardent cigar aficionado and exceptionally talented photographer, whom I have been fortunate to call a good buddy now for many years.  I hope to be joined by George again soon in studio, to bring you the first of our more robust “Mini Strain Review” segments of the show.   Anyway, it’s still a struggle to get our mic’s levels where we want them, and again I’m not bothering with shipping this one off to my Sound Engineer pal for some post production, so you’re getting a modestly improved raw audio file once more. We are getting there though, and while George is a bit faint at times, due to not sitting as close to the mic as he maybe should have,  we enjoyed ourselves and I think overall the audio is reasonable.   Presently, getting out episodes on a regular basis is my top priority. Perfection must, for now, take a back seat to my goal of consistently putting something out there.  I earnestly believe that the quality is already here, and we simply need to continue to develop both the format, and our delivery, through just sitting down and turning on the mic, and getting something captured.   By the way, we are very much looking forward to being listed in the itunes and GooglePlay podcast directories any day now, and really hope that by becoming more searchable and discoverable in this way, we will begin to see even more views/listens/downloads of the show than we already are. In the meantime, however, for now the best place to find all past episodes, as well as to communicate directly with us, is our own website, www.bakedandawake.com   Next, an editorial note: Being stoners, during the smoke session I incorrectly identify the farm that produced the flower that we sample on the show as Cannasol Farms. Lovely folks though they probably are, we did not smoke their weed last night Instead, we enjoyed the Royal Kush from our friends down at Soulshine Farms, where fellow Podcaster and Cannabis Ninja Vanzell Kirk, host of “The Lifted Scene” works as a member of the Growing Team. Kirk, if you’re listening buddy- sorry for the flub, we did enjoy the Royal Kush quite a bit. Keep up the good work. Check out The Lifted Scene in the iTunes store or wherever else you find your favorite Podcast content.   Speaking of Podcasts, I want to share with you all two other shows right now that inspire me everyday to keep doing this, for myself as much as because I even think one person might be listening- first, Ryan Kraus of the Cold Case Murder Mysteries Podcast- the guy likes almost all of my instagram posts, like a real person or something- it’s crazy!  He also makes one of the best true crime Podcasts out there, bringing his unique analysis to cold cases, Ryan never fails to have you re-examining what you thought you knew about “well known” tragic stories that nevertheless fascinate us all.  Just as awesome as Ryan and Cold Case Mysteries, are Sam Sedlack and friends, over at Super Normal- a podcast that seeks to bring the listener super relatable stories about fascinating people you didn’t know you needed to know. Every episode is different, and they tackle some real shit. We are talking workplace politics, identity politics, being unique in a society today that continually finds ways to challenge and dampen the spirit of individuals- I’m doing a poor job here of describing a really worthwhile show- just go check it and these other shows out for yourself, and don’t forget to tell them all that Ya Boy Steve sent you!     Alright- George and I are about to session some Galactic Glue Shatter from Clandestine Gardens, we laugh quite a bit, and even manage to talk a little shop about Episode 07, so get comfortable, grab yourself a cup of tea, and maybe a bowl of “Tea” as one of my first muses, Jack Kerouac might say, and get ready to hang out with the Baked and Awake pals..       Background music from Youtube Channel Lofi Hip Hop Radio 24/7   Cannabis Flower: Royal Kush, Soulshine Farms   Butane Hash Oil (BHO): Galactic Glue, Clandestine Gardens
